Introducing Muzzy: The New Atlas Reactor Community Manager

Yo, Freelancers! My name is Joe “Muzzy” Brogno, and I have the honor of being the new Community Manager for Atlas Reactor.

You are my people: Gamers, PvPers, Questers, Explorers, and Ambassadors of the digital realms. I’ve crawled from the depths of dialup, through the age of CRTs, past the days of blowing in cartridges, to meet with you here on the field of constant internet access, tablets of wonder, and streaming data. Together we will rule this world….

But first I have to send out a couple tweets, post to Facebook, reply to a couple forum posts, upload a YouTube video, and sacrifice a goat to the Trion Gods.

I came from a 9 year stint at Nickelodeon as the CG Environment Supervisor where I worked on all of the 3D television shows they produced. I realized that I was mostly done creating passive art and wanted to move into an industry where interactive art reigned supreme; “Vidgya gamez” seem to be a great outlet to experience this. I started a Twitch.tv account just to show a friend this new game I was playing. I had a crappy camera, no headset, no mic and sometimes no pants (hey, streams show waist up!). Suddenly there were players trickling into my chat, asking questions. I bought a camera, headset, mic, new pants… and then nearly lost my girlfriend because I found a new home online with like-minded folks playing games we loved together.

I streamed countless hours of Dawngate and immersed myself in the community lifestyle long before I considered exploring that as a career possibility. I wrote tutorials, guides, made videos, ran custom community games, co-hosted a 4-man livecast, organized tournaments and taught people everything I could. I grew to know the community, the pulse of friendship and rage that flows through it, and I was hooked.

Now I bring my skill set to Trion as the Community Manager on Atlas Reactor. I have a great understanding of the production side of things and the love and commitment of the community side of things. I also LOVE the game – some of you may have watched the dozens of matches I streamed throughout Alpha, and I hope my deep appreciation of the game came through! Hopefully this unique perspective will allow me to represent both the company and YOU, the players, well enough that everyone forgets how to rage. Lofty goals, but I believe we can all be better people, leading the way for the rest of the world.

I believe that a great game is made of more than cool mechanics, sweet art, and an interesting story. Great people are the glue that holds this chaos machine together. This amazing Dev team combined with a positive, friendly, respectful community are the ingredients for a really great experience.

So let’s take over the world together, one Atlas Reactor match at a time. We’ll talk on the forums, Reddit, Facebook, Twitter, or wherever AR players gather!

First of all congratulations; I know an opportunity like this must make you feel redeemed for all your hard work. Is this a full time role? Will you be replacing or working with the existing community manager?

I know this news was a week old, but I was bit surprised, but in a good way, given your significant past experience, seniority and skills in other areas. I think you would do an awesome job given your personality, presence is similar communities and skills, but I just hope Trion will give you the opportunity to utilize your skills that extend beyond what is normal or expected in this role. Regardless, I am excited to see your contributions in the times to come, and I would not be shocked to see your production, animation, management/leadership, design and other skills put to use as well as serving as an amazing community manager. Good luck on your future career. It is a big career shift and to be a frank, a sizable risk as well, but I think it will be well worth it to you, Trion and most of all the players.

    Hi Olliff!

Thanks man. This, so far, has been pretty surreal. It's full time and I'm being trained by all of the CMs of all of the games basically. They didn't have one yet, so I'm it!

I have come to realize that CM is a MASSIVE job. There are so many different types of tasks to handle. There is a lot expected of me and I'm either using skills I already have, refining them, or developing new skills to achieve success. The team believes in me, so as much of a risk that it seems to be, I think it is mitigated by my skillset, ability to adapt, their ability to teach me, and of course my passion for the position. Here's to a new, exciting path!

Can't say enough how happy I am you are part of a gaming team that I have cared about for so long. Getting to know you especially in sneak peek my gamer gauge lit up and I couldn't help being forward and poking you to apply because your attitude, enthusiasm, kindness and intelligence are a perfect fit for a bunch of people that are all these things and more.

Wishing you every success, cheering you and Atlas Reactor on THROUGH THE ROOF as we all prepare for it to take over our lives as the best game ever.

P.S: Apologies in advance if my candid honesty is a pain in the butt.

Thanks for the response, Muzzy. It looks like Evan Scapes Berman is another Trion CM for the Livestream and Influencer Relations, and you will be the CM for this game. To answer my own question, I bet you guys have worked together and will continue to collaborate, but have different CM roles. I ask this since we saw him on the Atlas Reactor livestreams. We will be sure to grill Trion at the next livestream, but since you work there too, can you share any of your future plans? It is a two way street.

I appreciate your candid honesty! Thank you for running the discord and reddit!

    @Olliff
Scapes and I work together daily. He's doing a great job teaching me the ways of the CM. Future plans are sensitive information and will be released to you guys in appropriate increments. So make sure you keep watching the stream and other social media for updates.

    Congratulations and good luck!

I wanted to say "welcome", but eh, it's not that you're new to the community, is it?

Oh things I forgot to ask Muzzy:

Please can we have a super duper hyper extensive and full on fansite kit with art assets updated regularly (like every time a new freelancer comes out), will we see you play on livestreams? I am so hyped our CM is a good player!

See you all at the livestream!

Great question, and it is literally the FIRST project I assigned myself when I got here It takes some time to gather approved content, but I'm definitely "on the job".
